About Us
Based in Philadelphia, Temple University is a public Carnegie-designated R1 research university that ranks in the top 350 of all universities worldwide according to Times Higher Education. With approximately 35,000 students, Temple maintains a multi-campus system extending from Pennsylvania to Rome to Japan.

Established in 1982, the Japan campus of Temple University (TUJ) is a full-service branch campus that educates over 3,500 students from nearly 60 countries in English in its undergraduate programs, graduate programs (Law, Business, Graduate Education), and non-degree programs (Continuing Education. Corporate Education and Academic English). TUJ is the oldest and largest branch campus of a foreign university in Japan. More details about TUJ are available at www.tuj.ac.jp. TUJ's strategic priorities and key objectives are accessible here. TUJ is expanding, financially healthy, and has just hired five new full-time faculty lines for 2022, with additional lines planned for 2023.

TUJ offers undergraduate programs to a broad mix of over 1,800 Japanese and non-Japanese degree-seeking students who will earn their degrees from Temple University through the Japan campus. Every semester, additional students from Temple's main campus and other universities converge on the TUJ campus for a short-term study abroad experience.

In one of the most dynamic cities in the world, TUJ offers ten full undergraduate majors ranging from art to international business to psychological studies. TUJ faculty and staff is international, with 37 full-time faculty joined by experienced administrators and many part-time adjunct faculty from the professions, business and the arts. TUJ holds classes in the fall and spring semesters (15 weeks) and over a well-enrolled 10-week summer semester.

Overview of Position
The Bridge Program is a 3-tiered entry-level university program for non-native English-speaking undergraduate students who need additional academic and linguistic support before matriculation.

TUJ is looking for a pool of instructors for possible part-time adjunct teaching positions in English language learning courses in the areas of grammar, reading, speaking, and writing. This pool will be considered when an opening arises.

The syllabi for these courses are set in terms of format, learning outcomes, course objectives, and types of assignments. However, course calendars and specific assignments or lesson plans will not be provided in full; instructors are responsible for their own course preparation in conversation with the program's Academic Coordinator.
