Seeking a few Technical staff I (W20248)(Theoretical Quantum Physics Laboratory,)
Theoretical Quantum Physics Laboratory,
RIKEN Cluster for Pioneering Research
(Laboratory head: Franco Nori, Chief Scientist)
The main goal of this position is to significantly advance and improve the software we initially developed here, called QuTiP (Quantum Toolbox in Python). This software is described in great detail in its web site.
QuTiP is open-source software for simulating the dynamics of open quantum systems. The QuTiP library depends on the excellent Numpy, Scipy, and Cython numerical packages. In addition, graphical output is provided by Matplotlib. QuTiP aims to provide user-friendly and efficient numerical simulations of a wide variety of Hamiltonians, including those with arbitrary time-dependence, commonly found in a wide range of physics applications such as quantum optics, trapped ions, superconducting circuits, and quantum nanomechanical resonators.
The top priorities of our research group are now: (1) quantum computing using superconducting qubits, (2) quantum information processing, (3) coherent Ising machines, as well as (4) neural networks and machine learning applied to quantum physics.
Candidates with prior experience in these topics will have priority.
We perform interdisciplinary research in theoretical quantum information processing, atomic physics, quantum optics, condensed matter physics, nanoscience, and computational physics. We are also studying hybrid quantum electro-mechanical systems, optomechanics, nano-mechanics, quantum nano-electronics, and quantum simulations. Particular emphasis is being placed on quantum computing using superconducting Josephson-junction qubits, scalable quantum circuitry and improved designs for their quantum control. An underlying theme of our work is to better understand nano-scale quantum systems and devise methods to control them. We use physical models to make predictions that can be tested experimentally and that can be used to better understand the observed phenomena.
